How to Borrow eBooks and eAudiobooks on Sora by OverDrive using multiple libraries
Norwell High School Library subscribes to Sora by OverDrive, a digital lending platform, which provides you access to thousands of free eBooks and eAudiobooks. If you don't already have the Sora app downloaded to your iPad or phone, follow the steps below to download the app, add borrowing libraries, and download digital files to the app. Happy reading andlListening!
1) Download the Sora by OverDrive app to your iPad and/or phone. On a computer you can access your Sora account at www.soraapp.com.
2) Open the app and begin adding borrowing libraries.
- First, select Find My School: Norwell Town Schools - students, your login is your student email and lunch code; staff, please contact Ms. Ready if you have trouble with your account.
- Once you are logged in, add additional borrowing libraries. Click on the 3 lines in the upper right screen and select + Add Library.
- You don't need a public library card anymore to add public libraries. You can add Old Colony Library Network (including Norwell Public Library) first. You can search for other Massachusetts public library networks by zip code or by name. Other library networks that are useful to add include:
- CLAMS
- CW MARS
- Merrimack Valley Library Consortium
- Minuteman Library Network
- NOBLE: North of Boston Library Exchange
- SAILS Library Network
- Boston Public Library
NOTE:
- You cannot add other public school libraries
- We no longer have a subscription to Norwell Town Schools MLS Commonwealth Ebook Collection.
4) Search for titles. Titles will appear under the name of the library they are available from. Note: If you select a book from a public library, it frequently asks you to log in again with your Norwell school credentials (email, lunch code). They are simply re-verifying your account. When you log in again, you need to find the book again and click BORROW again.
5) Borrow and Download: once you borrow an available eBook or eAudiobook, it is available on your Shelf (see Sora bottom menu). Titles typically will be loaned to you for two weeks after which they will automatically return (but checkout limits can vary between libraries). You can also Renew, Return, and see Holds on the Shelf screen.
