Summer Math Work

Dear Norwell High School Families,

Parents often ask what their child can do over the summer to stay fresh with their math skills and/or build their analytical skills.  We are excited to address this question.  Quite simply, students should continue to engage in mathematical thinking over the summer.  We believe that regular practice over the summer will help students maintain or strengthen their mathematical skills that were further developed this past school year.

We are happy to offer a few opportunities for students who are interested in supporting their math skills this summer.  Our hope is that students continue to engage in mathematical thinking.  While the suggested activities are NOT mandatory, we hope that students and families will find time to engage in these opportunities.

Thank you for your continued support and have a great summer!

High School: “BRILLIANT - 100 Day Summer Challenges”

  1. Skills Practice (6 weeks - one module per week):

These are optional question sets.  Families can choose to have students work on one question set per week, for 6 weeks.  Each module, an answer key, and suggested online resources are linked below.  A few physical copies are also available in the main office at the High School.  These summer modules focus on core skills that students would benefit from practicing and staying fresh with over the summer months.  It is okay if a student forgets how to complete a question.  If you need support with a specific skill, try watching a video or utilizing some of the suggested math resources for high school students provided here and within the skills modules.  But don’t worry!  Math teachers will revisit these skills and build upon them in the fall.

*Note: Within each question set resource information and worked examples (with step by step instructions) are provided on the left side of the page, and practice questions for students to try are provided on the right side of the page.

*Look on the next page for the links to the grade level skills modules.
